Safety Planning

You have the right to be safe. If you are living in an abusive relationship, or have recently left one, or if you are afraid for your safety due to abuse; creating a safety plan can assist you to feel safer and more in control of your life. We encourage you to create your own safety plan. We have information and suggestions about what should be included in your safety plan and steps that you can take to make you feel safer. To view a safety plan document, which is from the Peel Committee Against Women Abuse (PCAWA) please click here.

When planning for your safety, you need to think about three things:

1. Anticipated Events (What do you think may happen?)

2. Proactive Steps (What could you do to prevent this from happening?)

3. Reactive steps (What will you do if anything happened?)
